About Us

The Kansas Energy Program (KEP) is housed within the K-State Engineering Extension Department and provides energy-focused education, grant information, and technical assistance to Kansas small businesses and agricultural producers, K-12 educators, and governmental entities.

Mission and history

Through a partnership with the Kansas Corporation Commission (KCC) and primarily funded through a Department of Energy grant, the Kansas Energy Program (KEP) provides energy-focused education and assistance to Kansas small businesses, educators, organizations, and residents.

The Kansas Energy Program currently has four primary staff members located in Manhattan, Kansas. More information about each of our staff members is available on the "Staff" section of our website.

Partners

K-State Engineering Extension is a 100% grant-funded organization, receiving no state funds through Kansas State University. Because of this, the Kansas Energy Program relies on key strategic and funding partners.

Map and results

Since KEP began in 2016, we have worked with entities in more than 80 Kansas counties. We've helped Kansas small businesses and agricultural producers receive for than $1 million in grant funding (not to mention their energy savings). We've hosted or participated in more than 200 educational events and expanded our education activities to include the KidWind Challenge and K-12 Benchmarking Project.
