Lesson Description: Students choose an audit system, analyze their school buiding, and report results to administrators and the school board.

Option 1 Building Envelope Audit: Students use what they learned in Intro to Energy and Equipment Training to conduct an audit (Equipment: cameras, omega 4 in 1, data loggers, measuring devices, and ultrasonic leak detector) [1-2 class periods]. Students analyze data and make recommendations [1-2 class periods]. Students create a short report to present to staff members or school board about recommendations, including their claim, evidence, and reasoning [1-2 class periods]

Determine energy consumption of electronics and appliances, calculate operating costs, potential savings if turned off overnight, etc. (Equipment: watt meters and plug loader data logger) [1-2 class periods]. Students analyze data and make recommendations [1-2 class periods]. Students create a short report to present to staff members or school board about recommendations, including their claim, evidence, and reasoning [1-2 class periods]
