We love talking to students about energy. If you’re looking for diversity in instructors, give us a yell (or maybe just quietly fill out the request form below). We’ll bring our interactive equipment, tailor the presentation to your needs, and hang out with your students for the day (or however long you'd like). Our presentations aren’t just about energy – we can include topics such as math, economics, and environmental health. They are designed to incorporate cross-cutting concepts and science and engineering practices, enabling you to meet more of the Next Generation Science Standards. Here are a couple of examples of our demonstrations or topics of discussion:
Which light bulb do you think is the most efficient? Students will use scientific tools to conduct an engaging investigation on light energy and efficiency. Want to physically feel the energy with the lightbox generation? Test it out with our human generators - a bicycle and hand crank!
Have you ever participated in a breakout room or escape room where you had to solve clues and try to "escape" in one hour? We have developed portable energy efficiency-themed breakout rooms for Kansas students and educators. Make sure to watch the intro video(s) on the website linked below for more information about this great resource.
This activity requires participants to design, test, and redesign a wind-powered car. Regardless of age, everyone seems to have a great time with this – even adults! For younger children, assistance will be needed to use scissors and put the components together.
Please note: from early February to early April, we will be busy with our "KidWind Season," and unlikely to conduct any in-person presentations or activities.
