The HOBO Occupancy/Light Data Loggers do exactly what you would think: they log data about how often lights are on or off in a room and whether that room is occupied. They are a great way to analyze which rooms could benefit from motion sensors to turn lights on or off. If you are looking for a project where students must collect and analyze data, this is an excellent option.
There are two options available: UX90-005x and UX90-006x. The UX90-005x detects motion up to 5 meters (16.4 ft) away, while the UX90-006x detects motion up to 12 meters (39.4 ft) away. You will need to download the HOBOware program for Windows or Mac.

If interested, we have Data Logger lessons to help students learn how to set up data loggers, collect data, and analyze data. You can find those lessons here.
