KidWind Registration

To reserve a place for your teams in the 2025 Kansas KidWind Challenge, fill out the form below. We'll ask for more specific information about your students and teams as the date of the KidWind Challenge gets closer.

New for 2025!

  • Three age divisions to align more closely with KidWind Worlds: 4th-5th, 6th-8th, and 9th-12th 
  • New staggered registration process! See timeline below. When registering, you will choose how many teams your school would like to bring (up to three per age division). However, only one team per age division per school will be guaranteed initially until registration is full (approx. 16-18 teams per region). This will help to ensure everyone has a fair chance and more schools can participate.  Second and third teams in each age division will be automatically waitlisted. 
  • Other generator options at State for 6th-8th and 9th-12th graders. When registering below, let us know about your interest in this option if your teams make it to State. KEP will use this information to determine which generator divisions will be offered at State. Note: You will NOT be locked into your generator status until you are registered at the State event.

If you have a large number of participants, consider hosting an internal competition to decide which teams will attend. We recommend a team size of 3-5 students. Need more info? Check out our KidWind Resources or send us a quick email!

Initial KidWind Registration is open from Sept. 10 - Dec. 20, 2024. If you missed the first deadline, there is still time to register!

Team and Regional Preferences

KEP will update this registration page to indicate when a regional Challenge is full. Even if your preferred Challenge is full, you can still register for the event, but your teams will be placed on the waitlist. Please reach out if you have questions.

Additional Information

Note: wind tunnels are provided on a first-come, first-served basis and you might be limited to a one- or two-week loan period depending on availability. Entering information here does not guarantee a wind tunnel can be provided during your requested time.
By submitting this form, I acknowledge that I might not be able to bring the number of teams I have requested. Depending on registration numbers, KEP may initially limit each school/organization to 1 team per age division (additional teams will be automatically waitlisted). KEP will notify schools about additional teams by October 18th (2nd team) and December 6th (3rd team).
